Chaotic scenes erupted at the Kawukudi Intersection off the 37-Achimota Road in Accra as unaffiliated youths clashed with police on the second day of the #FreeTheCitizen and #StopGalamseyNow demonstrations.
The group, primarily comprised of Muslim youth believed to be part of the Chief Imam’s entourage, encountered a police barricade set up for security during the protests. Frustrated by the blockade, the motorcyclists demanded its removal, leading to a confrontation when the police refused
Ultimately, the youth forcefully dismantled the barricade and rode through, leaving officers seemingly powerless to intervene. Meanwhile, some participants of the #FreeTheCitizen protest expressed dissatisfaction with the police response, accusing law enforcement of discrimination for not arresting any of the riders despite their use of excessive force.
