Prior to the 2024 parliamentary elections, the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has decided to remove the current Member of Parliament for Nkwakaw in the Eastern Region Joseph Frempong, and replace him with David Asante , after consulting with the National Council on Tuesday, September 3, at an emergency meeting in Accra.
Due to his present health issues, Joseph Frempong will not be able to take part in the intense campaigning that is needed for the next elections. Consequently, the NPP has chosen David Asante, the CEO of Ghana Publishing Company Limited, as its parliamentary candidate for the Nkwakaw constituency.
Mr. Asante, a native of Nkwakaw lost to the current MP in the party’s January 2024 parliamentary primary. Mr. Asante will now represent the NPP in the general elections of 2024 as a result of this occurrence.
