In a game that marked Vincent Kompany’s Bundesliga debut, Bayern Munich defeated Wolfsburg 3-2 on Sunday thanks to a goal from Serge Gnabry in the closing seconds.
Wolfsburg had a strong start, but Bayern’s first-half efforts were more effective. André Frankema scored the game’s opening goal with ease after making a nice move down the right and crossing the ball for Jamal Musiala.
Bayern was however forced to turn their slow comeback to the pitch when Boey fouled Tiago Tomas in the box, earning a free kick that Lovro Majer scored with ease.
After missing the mark twice earlier, Majer opened the score in the 55th minute for Wolfsburg, who were continually causing misery to the opposition defence.
Just moments before Jakub Kaminski’s own goal in the 65th minute, Thomas Muller had set Bayern’s Bundesliga appearance-master record but Gnabry’s goal in the match’s 88th minute made sure Bayern Munich won all three points.
