Bernard Mornah, the flagbearer of the People’s National Convention (PNC), has announced that his lawyers have formally requested an explanation from the Electoral Commission (EC) regarding his disqualification from the upcoming 2024 elections. He argues that the EC lacks a valid basis for disqualifying him, asserting that he corrected all identified errors on his nomination forms.
In a recent interview, Mornah described the EC’s announcement of eligible candidates as “bogus.” On September 20, the EC cleared 13 candidates for the December polls, out of 24 who had submitted nominations. Mornah was one of 11 candidates disqualified, many of whom were independent candidates.
Mornah revealed that he had been contacted by the EC to rectify issues with his forms, which he did, but he received no further feedback until the disqualification was announced. Elected as the PNC’s flagbearer on September 8, he filed his nomination last week and expressed confidence that the PNC would make a significant impact in the upcoming elections.
