Political parties will receive access to the provisional voter registration for the general elections scheduled for December 7 from the Electoral Commission (EC) on Friday, August 16. This follows the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) demand that the provisional register be made available right away. The NDC’s Director of Elections, Dr. Omane Boamah, denounced the delay, blaming it on the EC’s alleged incompetence and a calculated effort to give political parties a subpar registration.
Dr. Boamah voiced worries that the delay would have major repercussions, cautioning that the NDC and other stakeholders are extremely worried that the EC’s and its IT Department’s incompetence and posturing could throw Ghana into chaos if they don’t act quickly. The EC’s Director of Training, Dr. Serebuor Quaicoe, stressed that the organization must legally construct the provisional register no later than ninety days following the registration procedure’ data collecting.
