Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s initiative to introduce electric buses in Ghana is poised to revolutionize the transportation sector and significantly reduce commuting costs. Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, CEO of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), announced that the new electric buses, which are en route to Ghana, are expected to lower transportation expenses by as much as 40%.
This initiative aligns with the government’s broader vision of promoting sustainable transportation solutions while tackling issues such as traffic congestion and pollution. Nkansah emphasized that the electric buses will enhance the efficiency of public transport and contribute to a cleaner, greener urban environment.
In addition to cost savings, these buses will improve the overall commuting experience for passengers, featuring modern amenities and reduced noise levels compared to traditional diesel buses.
“Dr. Bawumia’s electric buses will arrive by the end of this month. With no fuel costs and low maintenance, public transport fares are expected to decrease by around 40,” he shared on Facebook on October 2.
