In response to a recent sexual scandal affecting Equatorial Guinea’s reputation, the Democratic Party of Equatorial Guinea (PDGE) has issued an official statement announcing disciplinary action against Baltasar Ebang Engonga, also known as “Bello.”
The statement outlines that Ebang Engonga has been immediately suspended from his membership in the PDGE, a step taken as part of an internal disciplinary investigation directed by Vice President Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue. This suspension is the initial phase in what could lead to his eventual dismissal and expulsion from public office.
Furthermore, the PDGE and the government have called on the Attorney General to take legal action against individuals who share or view explicit videos related to the incident on social media, in an effort to uphold the country’s moral standards and public image.
The PDGE has also advised citizens to disregard any rumors or misinformation regarding the case, reaffirming the party’s commitment to national integrity and respect during this period of heightened public scrutiny.
