The Electoral Commission (EC) has disqualified multiple presidential aspirants from the December 7, 2024 elections due to their failure to correct errors on their nomination forms. EC Chairperson Jean Mensa announced this decision during a press briefing in Accra on Friday, stating that candidates were given ample time to rectify issues but did not meet the requirements.
Among those disqualified are Bernard Mornah of the People’s National Convention (PNC) and Janet Nabla of the People’s National Party (PNP), along with other candidates like Nana Stephens Adjepong, Paul Perkoh, and Dr. Samuel Sampong Ankrah. Additionally, members of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) including Samuel Apea-Danquah and Kofi Asamoah Siaw were also affected.
The EC emphasized that the disqualification process adhered to electoral regulations, ensuring fairness and transparency. Mensa highlighted specific Errors faced by some candidates, such as failing to file tax certificates for their vice presidential nominees and incomplete details for their supporters.
