There is a terrible drought in Northern Ghana right now, which has raised a lot of concerns regarding food security and the livelihood of thousands of farmers. The area hasn’t seen rain in almost two months, and the protracted dry season has stunted crop growth and given farmers little hope for a bumper yield.
The lack of rainfall has resulted in significant losses as staples like rice, maize, groundnuts, and millet wither.
There are fears of an impending famine and possible food crisis as a result of the extended drought, which has caused a dramatic decline in food production. If the rains arrive soon, some farmers expressed concern that it would already be too late to undo the harm the drought has caused.
