Ghanaian welterweight boxer Fosu Thompson is gearing up for the most significant fight of his career as he heads to Lagos, Nigeria, to compete against Kabiru Salawu for the vacant WABU welterweight title.
Thompson, who remains undefeated with a remarkable record of nine bouts, eight wins, and one draw, is determined to bring the prestigious West African belt back to Ghana.
His challenger, Salawu, holds a record of six fights, with four wins, one loss, and a draw, setting the stage for a competitive clash.
In the lead-up to the match, Thompson has urged the media and the public to rally behind him with prayers and support as he aims to secure victory for his country.
“I’m not just fighting for myself, but for my country and the people of Ghana,” he said. “I’m determined to make them proud and bring the title home,” he declared.
He also expressed deep gratitude to his management team, led by Madam Noami Yeboah, and his coaching team, headed by Charles Quartey.
“I couldn’t have made it this far without their tireless efforts and guidance,” he acknowledged.
The highly anticipated fight is set to take place on Sunday, September 15, 2024.
