“I’m not returning to MMA, I never left MMA. That’s the confusion.” – Francis Ngannou

Francis Ngannou cited that he had never left MMA and is willing to continue the path that he chooses at the same time. The skilled heavyweight fighter is now slated for about with Renan Ferreira on October 19, which will be his first MMA fight since January 2022, but the fighter took two fights in boxing matches.

“I’m not returning to MMA, I never left MMA. That’s the confusion.” He stated.

Ngannou, 37, squared off with former world champions Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua in the ring but denies his comeback to MMA.

In May 2023 Ngannou released his affiliation with the UFC and joined the PFL rival organisation but before he took part in sequential boxing matches. Despite the fact that he was defeated by Fury in a highly debatable split decision and knocked out by Joshua, Ngannou does not think his venture into boxing was a “negative” one.

“The fact that those fights even happened, it was something exceptional,” he said.

“I had that dream for over 20 years, and I finally put it into fruition. That was dream chasing, a life-long dream I completed.”
