The December pricing window opens with slight increases in fuel prices.

Fuel prices are seeing a slight increase in Ghana as the first pricing window of December begins, with some Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) initiating adjustments.

Shell has led the way by revising prices for both petrol and diesel upward.

The cost of a litre of petrol, previously GH₵14.82 during November’s second pricing window, has now risen to GH₵14.99. Diesel has also experienced a marginal increase, moving from GH₵15.66 to GH₵15.72 per litre.

These adjustments follow a previous pricing window where petrol prices dipped slightly, and diesel prices remained unchanged, contrary to expectations of broader reductions.

The Chamber of Petroleum Consumers (COPEC) had earlier anticipated a decrease in fuel prices during November’s second pricing window. Their projection was based on a decline in global market prices and the relative stability of the Ghanaian cedi.

Data from COPEC indicated that global petrol prices fell from $723.03 to $676.64 per metric tonne, supporting expectations of lower local fuel costs.

Shell’s move to adjust prices upward could signal a trend for other OMCs in the ongoing December pricing window. Consumers and industry stakeholders will be closely monitoring further developments as the window progresses.
