The Ghana Education Service (GES) has started the process of selection for schools for candidates who sat for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the year 2024.
Started on Thursday, August 28, the process will continue up to September 4, 2024.
In a statement signed by Mr. Prince Agyemang-Duah, Acting Director, Schools and Instruction Division, parents and guardians are enjoined to participate in the exercise to provide suitable placements for their wards.
These opportunities have been made possible by the quality senior high schools and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions for 570,461 BECE candidates this year. Moreover, candidates can choose the stems subjects as biomedical science, engineering science, and agriculture.
In order to ensure that the process is transparent and follows the set guidelines, officers from the GES headquarters will oversee all the selection processes across the country.
The Regional Directors of Education have been instructed to communicate the dates of selection to the stakeholders.
In a new development, candidates are going to be able to complete their school choices through a short code, details of which will be communicated later.
Parents, students, and other stakeholders have also benefited from the provision of two phone lines as a means of reaching out for any concern that may have arisen regarding the selection exercise.
