The Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) has officially submitted forms for their newly appointed flagbearer, Philip Appiah Kubi, also known as Roman Fada, to the Electoral Commission (EC) in hopes of securing clearance to run in the upcoming elections. Roman Fada, formerly the Vice-Presidential candidate, was nominated as the party’s presidential candidate on November 4, 2024, following the passing of longtime party leader, Madam Akua Donkor.
On November 5, 2024, Roman Fada submitted his candidacy forms to the EC, fulfilling the requirement set after Madam Donkor’s untimely death on October 28 at Ridge Hospital in Accra.
Broadcast journalist Adakabre Frimpong Manso shared the news of Donkor’s passing on TV3’s New Day program on October 29, which led the EC to temporarily halt the printing of ballot papers. In line with the 1992 Constitution, the EC provided a 10-day window for the GFP to designate a new presidential candidate.
