The illustrious broadcaster Godwin Avenorgbo’s funeral is set for September 14, 2024, at the Lashibi Funeral Home, close to Accra. The service is expected to start at 1:00 p.m. Participants are expected to adhere to the “Black and White” dress code.
During a meeting with the National Executive on Monday concerning the burial plans, Kanghla Blasu, the head of Godwin Avenorgbo’s family, disclosed these details. In honor of Avenorgbo, also referred to as “The Grandmaster” Mr. Blasu opened a Book of Condolence at the Ghana International Press Centre with a delegation of his family.
The Book of Condolence will be available for signing over the next 10 days, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily.
On August 19, 2024, Godwin Avenorgbo, a former Director of Radio at the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), passed sadly following a brief illness. Throughout the Tengey Administration (1985–1988), he held the position of Executive Member of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) and held several other positions during his distinguished career. He was particularly important in planning and directing the 75th anniversary celebrations for the GJA.
