GRNMA Declares members will not participate in October 10 Strike

The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) has announced that its members will not participate in the October 10 strike organized by Labour groups protesting illegal mining activities. In a statement issued on October 9, the GRNMA directed its members to remain on duty during the scheduled strike.

While the GRNMA will not join the strike, it expressed solidarity with member trade unions and associations within Organised Labour in their fight against illegal mining, commonly referred to as galamsey. The association reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for stronger national interventions to address the galamsey issue in Ghana.

The Government and Hospital Pharmacists Association (GHOSPA) echoed a similar directive, urging its members to remain at work while showing solidarity with Organised Labour’s objectives.

Organised Labour is poised to embark on an indefinite strike due to the government’s inaction regarding the ban on illegal mining. The leadership of Organised Labour is scheduled to meet later today, October 9, to make a final determination about the industrial action set to commence on October 10.
