Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar has been suspended by the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) due to what the Guild has termed professional misconduct. In a statement released on Friday, the AGN announced that Abubakar’s alleged involvement in “slandering Nollywood” was revealed following a two-year secret investigation.
The Guild indicated that other female members are also under scrutiny, particularly in connection with the recent disclosure of individuals rumored to have had dealings with Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
The investigation found Abubakar guilty of disseminating false information about her colleagues, associates, and patrons, including allegations of extramarital affairs with prominent figures in society.
As a consequence of these findings, Halima Abubakar has been placed on indefinite suspension. The AGN stated that she will face the National Disciplinary Committee to determine the extent of her punishment and is prohibited from participating in any AGN-related activities or filming.
Additionally, the Guild noted that other female members remain on a watch-list and are currently being investigated by the secret panel regarding the release of names linked to the Senate President.
