The Hausa community in Ghana celebrated World Hausa Day at the Forecourt of the State House in Accra, in style, showcasing their rich cultural history through a vibrant display. The Hausa community, traditional leaders, and government representatives came together for the event, which had as its theme “Promoting peaceful coexistence pre, during, and post-elections 2024: the role of Zongo Chiefs, Magajiyoyi, and Youth Leaders”.
In a keynote speech, Vice President Dr. Bawumia’s representative, Dr. Ben Abdallah Banda, stressed the value of cooperation and teamwork in preserving peace, especially as the nation gets closer to elections. He congratulated the Hausa people for their contributions to Ghana’s progress and urged them to keep advocating for peaceful cohabitation.
Dr. Banda further stressed that in order to support local businesses and the economy, Ghanaians must support and purchase products made locally. Sheikh (Dr.) Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, the National Chief Imam, led prayers, blessed the Hausa community’s events, and urged them to keep advocating for peace and togetherness.
The event showcased the rich cultural legacy of the Hausa people through traditional dance, music, and dress. Zongo Chiefs, Magajiyoyi, youth leaders, and Hausa community members attended the World Hausa Day event. They were all committed to achieving peaceful coexistence and economic development.
