Caleb Amankwah has urged club owners to care for their players, stating that clubs need to pay better wages so they can attract the best players and enhance the local league.
Amankwah, who left Ghana’s Hearts of Oak for the Ethiopian side Commercial Bank FC added that players in the Ethiopian league earns more than those in Ghana. He said this could help in the improvement of player welfare since raising their salaries would bring about better-quality players in the Ghanaian leagues and also help in increasing the number of people attending the stadiums on the particular Sundays that the local leagues are being played.
This is a common trend where players tend to move to Ghana Premier League clubs from other clubs in countries such as Congo, Rwanda, Tanzania, and South Africa in the desire to look for better clubs to play for.
