Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), and the Police Management Board marked Sunday, November 24, with a nationwide outreach to churches, promoting peace ahead of Ghana’s December 7 general elections.
During his visit to the Church of Pentecost in Accra New Town, Dr. Dampare expressed gratitude to the congregation for their prayers for the nation and emphasized the need to combine prayers with deliberate actions to ensure peace prevails.
He urged Ghanaians to actively support the police in maintaining security and order, envisioning the upcoming elections as the most peaceful in Ghana’s history.
“We have come to show our appreciation to you as we prepare for these elections,” he said. “The way we have allowed the Lord to use us to conduct ourselves has resulted in a peaceful process so far.”
Dr. Dampare also highlighted the absence of adverse incidents during the election period, attributing it to divine intervention and the collective resolve of citizens. He called on the church and the broader public to remain committed to peace as the nation approaches the polls.
“This unprecedented peace is a testament to the Lord’s mighty hand on our nation and our willingness to be instruments for His purpose,” he added.
