Ghanaian international Inaki Williams made a significant impact in Athletic Bilbao’s 3-2 victory over Las Palmas in La Liga on Sunday. The 29-year-old striker was instrumental, providing three assists, matching his total from the previous season.
Williams’ first assist came just seven minutes into the match when he set up Oihan Sancet for the opening goal. Twenty-three minutes later, Williams combined with his younger brother, Nico Williams, who scored with a precise shot past the Las Palmas goalkeeper.
In the 75th minute, Williams delivered his third assist, helping Aitor Paredes score and regain Bilbao’s two-goal advantage after Sandro Ramirez had scored for Las Palmas. Despite a late goal from Las Palmas in the 83rd minute, they couldn’t equalize.
Williams’ performance makes him the first Bilbao player to achieve a hat-trick of assists in a league match since Fran Yeste against Real Betis in 2005. He is anticipated to rejoin the Black Stars for their upcoming doubleheader against Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers this October.
