The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has submitted an injunction application aimed at preventing the Electoral Commission (EC) from printing parliamentary ballot papers and notice of poll for the Amenfi Central constituency. This move follows the disqualification of their candidate, Joana Gyan Cudjoe, by the EC, triggered by an interlocutory injunction from the Sekondi High Court.
This court order bars the EC from recognizing Cudjoe as the NDC’s candidate for the upcoming December 7 elections, pending the resolution of a lawsuit concerning her eligibility. The NDC contends that the EC’s decision to proceed with ballot printing, despite the unresolved legal matters, infringes on both the legal process and their candidate’s rights.
In their application, the NDC is requesting the court to issue an order preventing the EC from printing or distributing ballot materials for Amenfi Central until the issues surrounding Cudjoe’s disqualification are fully addressed. This situation adds further complications to the party’s campaign efforts in the constituency as election day approaches.
