Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson Jean Mensa extended her well-wishes to the 11 presidential candidates who were disqualified from the 2024 election, expressing hope that they have better luck in future attempts.
Speaking at a press briefing on Friday, Madam Mensa explained that the disqualifications were largely due to issues such as the same signatures being used for multiple candidates and other irregularities.
“The aspiring candidates who couldn’t file, we wish you better luck next time,” she said.
On Friday, September 20, the Electoral Commission (EC) approved 13 candidates to compete in the upcoming December 7 elections, out of the 24 individuals who submitted their nominations.
Among those disqualified was Bernard Mornah of the People’s National Convention (PNC). However, Mornah has rejected the EC’s decision, arguing that there was no valid reason for his disqualification and stated that he will not accept it.
