Janet Nabla, the disqualified presidential candidate of the People’s National Party (PNP), has accused Jean Mensa, Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), of being envious of her achievements.
Nabla, speaking on Adom FM, stated that she is the only female candidate with a master’s degree and the qualifications necessary to lead Ghana as its next president. She claims her disqualification from the 2024 presidential race was orchestrated because of the threat she posed to other candidates.
According to her, some candidates were allowed to contest despite errors on their nomination forms, suggesting that a plot, involving Madam Mensa, led to her exclusion from the race.
“Jean Mensa should tell me what I have done to her to warrant my disqualification. She has been paid by some people who consider me as a threat to do this to me. It is a disgrace that a woman will be so jealous of her colleague woman,” she claimed.
Madam Nabla and 10 other candidates were on Friday disqualified from contesting the December 7 election.
Following a thorough review of nomination forms to ensure adherence to legal requirements, the Electoral Commission (EC) disqualified several candidates, including Janet Nabla of the People’s National Party (PNP).
Despite the EC’s assurance to refund filing fees to the disqualified candidates, Nabla remains adamant that her exclusion was premeditated. She insists that her disqualification was part of a calculated effort to undermine her candidacy.
In response, Nabla has threatened legal action and plans to petition international organizations for a forensic audit of the candidates who were approved to contest.
