Leicester City striker Jordan Ayew has acknowledged that facing his former club, Crystal Palace, at Selhurst Park this Saturday will be an emotional experience.
The Premier League clash, scheduled for a 14:00 GMT kickoff, will see Ayew return to the stadium he called home for six years.
The Ghanaian international joined Leicester in the summer transfer window after a lengthy spell at Palace, where he formed close bonds with teammates and fans alike.
Looking ahead to the match, Ayew admitted it will be “strange” to play against the club where he spent a significant part of his career, and he anticipates feeling a mix of emotions during the encounter.
“It will be strange because I was there for six years and it was my home,” Ayew shared with Leicester’s official website. “I’ll see a lot of familiar faces that I didn’t get to say a proper goodbye to, so it’s going to be emotional. But I’m here to defend my new team.”
Leicester City has faced a challenging start to the Premier League season, with just one draw and two losses from their opening three games. However, striker Jordan Ayew recently provided a spark by scoring his first goal for the Foxes in their dominant 4-0 win over Tranmere Rovers in the Carabao Cup.
As Ayew gears up for an emotional return to Selhurst Park, where he spent six years with Crystal Palace, both he and his new team will be looking to use the momentum from their cup victory to improve their league performance. The match offers Ayew a chance to help Leicester turn their fortunes around while revisiting familiar territory.
