Youngster Joseph Paintsil has been withdrawn from Ghana ’s squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Niger in Morocco because of passport issues.
The LA Galaxy forward who had a taste of the black stars parade in the 1-0 humiliation at the hands of Angola in Kumasi last Thursday was among the notable faces missing for the fixture. Paintsil has stayed behind in Accra to sort out the issue concerning the passport with a view to returning to California to continue with his Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy.
“Twenty-three players made the trip after Joseph Paintsil pulled out due to passport issues. The Los Angeles Galaxy forward has been left in Accra to sort out his passport issues before returning to the United States to join his club,” the Ghana Football Association confirmed in a statement.
Ghana will be aiming to bounce back from their defeat to Angola when they face Niger’s Menas on Monday at the RS Berkane Stadium, hoping to secure vital points in their quest for Africa Cup of Nations qualification.
