The Ghana Women’s Premier League team, Lady Strikers, encountered a serious accident on the Tema Motorway on Saturday, November 16, 2024.
The Cape Coast-based team was traveling to Tema New Town to face Halifax Ladies in their fourth league match of the 2024/25 season at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Park when their bus veered off the road. The vehicle reportedly tipped onto its side, as shown in photos circulating on social media.
Several players were seen with bandages on their heads, raising concerns about possible injuries, but the full extent of their conditions is not yet known.
The accident has cast doubt over whether the match will go ahead as planned or if it will be postponed. The team’s current season performance stands at four points from three games, adding to the challenges they face following this incident.
