Japan Motors Trading Co. Ltd. (JMTC) recently celebrated a milestone with the official launch of three Geely vehicle models in Ghana, marking an exciting expansion of its automotive offerings.
The grand event introduced the innovative Geely brand to the Ghanaian market, showcasing Japan Motors’ commitment to delivering advanced automotive options to local consumers.
Among the newly unveiled Geely models is the Coolray, a high-performance SUV built on Geely’s global modular architecture (BMA) and powered by the cutting-edge 1.5TD NordThor engine, designed to enhance efficiency and performance.

Leading the lineup is the Coolray, a high-performance SUV with advanced engineering, offering drivers a powerful yet smooth experience. The Coolray’s global modular architecture (BMA) and 1.5TD NordThor powertrain bring a modern edge to the SUV segment.
Also introduced was the Starray, an ultra-modern SUV inspired by Geely’s “Vision Starburst” concept, featuring bold, futuristic styling and state-of-the-art features that make it a distinctive choice in its class.
Completing the lineup is the GX3 Pro, a sleek and budget-friendly city SUV designed for practical, efficient urban travel, providing a quality option for affordable mobility.
In an exciting move, JMTC announced that the Coolray will be assembled locally at its advanced Japan Motors Vehicle Assembly Plant in Tema. This local production initiative, alongside Japan Motors’ successful assembly of brands such as Nissan, Peugeot, and Foton, reinforces its commitment to Ghana’s automotive growth and job creation.
To date, Japan Motors has assembled over 1,000 defect-free vehicles, contributing to skill development and employment within Ghana.
At the launch event, Mr. Amine Kabbara, General Manager of Sales and Marketing at JMTC, remarked, “The introduction of Geely marks a new era in Ghana’s automotive sector. We are thrilled to offer Ghanaian drivers an exceptional driving experience characterized by innovation and cutting-edge technology.”
Mr. Nouhad Kalmoni, Executive Director of JMTC, expressed great excitement about the launch of the three new Geely models, saying, “Geely’s diverse lineup has something for every type of driver – from compact city vehicles to family-friendly SUVs and dependable options for business fleets.”
