Criticism has arisen from Nicki Minaj and some fans directed at Jay-Z, who was responsible for selecting the headliner, for choosing Kendrick Lamar over Lil Wayne.
In a viral video message released on Friday, Lil Wayne expressed his feelings of disappointment and admitted that he was not mentally prepared for the setback. He noted that it would have been a tremendous honor to headline the 2025 Super Bowl in his hometown of New Orleans. Despite the disappointment, Wayne stated that he is working on moving past the letdown.
