Mahama tells Bawumia “No one has the right to place their posters on the DRIP equipment.”

The presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has urged the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, to order his parliamentary candidates to remove political posters placed on District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) machinery.

Speaking to supporters during a rally at Yeji in the Pru East District, Mahama noted that the funds used for DRIP programme implemented to build roads in all the 275 constituencies of Ghana is got from taxes. He underlined that it is incorrect to use this public equipment for political advertisement.

Mahama added that it belongs to all Ghanaians and not the NPP alone. He also urged the President Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia to treat their assignments as part of the entire nation and not party gains.

He demanded the removal of the political posters and warned that the NDC will seek further options if the matter continues or not addressed.

He stated “It’s the government’s money, funded by the taxes we all pay—whether you’re NPP, CPP, Christian, or Muslim—everyone contributes. They’ve used those taxes to import earth-moving equipment for road construction, and each district has been allocated some. But now, we’re seeing posters of NPP parliamentary candidates on the DRIP equipment.

I want to remind Akufo-Addo and Bawumia that they serve the entire country, not just the NPP. The equipment doesn’t belong to the party; it belongs to all Ghanaians. No one has the right to place their posters on the DRIP equipment. They must order the immediate removal of these posters, or we’ll be forced to take action ourselves,”
