The Premier League team Manchester United has confirmed that Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui have officially joined from Bayern Munich. With add-ons, the deal is reportedly valued at a total of £60 million ($76.6 million).
While Morocco’s Mazraoui signed a four-year contract, the Netherlands’ De Ligt, a center back, inked a five-year agreement at Old Trafford. After additionally acquiring defender Leny Yoro from Lille and attacker Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna, United’s summer spending has now reached £140 million ($180 million).
The two played in the first team for now-United manager Erik ten Hag after beginning their junior careers at Ajax Amsterdam in the Netherlands. The 25-year-old De Ligt won the Bundesliga with Bayern in 2022–2023; the Eredivisie with Ajax in 2018–19; and the Serie A championship with Juventus in 2019–2020. Following right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s departure on Monday for West Ham for an alleged £15 million ($19.2 million), De Ligt and Mazraoui have arrived.
