EPL MD5: Crystal Palace host Manchester United as Arsenal travel to Manchester City

Manchester City and Arsenal are set for a high-stakes clash at the Etihad Stadium this Sunday afternoon, with the home side aiming to maintain their impressive form and strengthen their pursuit of a record-breaking fifth consecutive Premier League title.

City manager Pep Guardiola has acknowledged the vital role Arsenal have played in pushing his team to greater heights, particularly with their strong title challenges over the past two seasons. “Before, it was Liverpool that pushed us to our limits,” said Guardiola. “Now, it’s Arsenal who have been driving us forward these last two seasons. We understand the challenge, and I know Arsenal will be strong for many years to come.”

The Premier League action kicks off earlier on Saturday with a heated London derby between West Ham United and Chelsea at the London Stadium. West Ham, still smarting from a 3-1 defeat to Manchester City just before the international break, will be looking for redemption. Manager Julen Lopetegui hopes his side will have learned valuable lessons from that encounter as they prepare for another tough test against Chelsea.

“We didn’t score and when you don’t score against these kinds of teams, they don’t forgive,” said the Spanish tactician. “It’s true that we did little mistakes and against these kinds of teams in these kinds of matches, you can’t concede these kinds of chances, because they don’t forgive.”

Saturday’s Premier League action includes several intriguing mid-afternoon fixtures, with Liverpool aiming to build on their progress under manager Arne Slot as they host AFC Bournemouth at Anfield. Meanwhile, a London derby will see Tottenham Hotspur welcome Brentford, while a crucial battle at the bottom of the table unfolds between Southampton and Ipswich Town, with both teams fighting to avoid relegation danger.

In the evening, Crystal Palace will look to upset Manchester United at Selhurst Park. Palace boss Oliver Glasner will be counting on his team’s resilience and unity to secure a memorable victory against the Red Devils.

“In this situation it is really amazing how they stick together. I am really proud to be manager of this amazing group.”

Sunday, ahead of the City v Arsenal clash, will also see Brighton & Hove Albion chase three points at home when they welcome Nottingham Forest to the South Coast.
