Margius Adjei, a 47-year-old travel consultant, was charged with defrauding a tour operator of $15,000 and was given bail of GH¢100,000 with two sureties. Allegedly, Adjei promised to obtain Nicaraguan visas for the company’s customers in exchange for GH¢225,000 from the proprietor of a travel and tour agency. To the accusations, Adjei has entered a not guilty plea. Chief Executive Officer of Rashman Travel and Tours Arahman Bashiru initiated the process by filing a complaint against Adjei.
The CEO of Rashman Travel and Tours, Arahman Bashiru, contacted a contact in May 2023 to ask for assistance in obtaining travel documents for his customers. Through this connection, Bashiru met Margius Adjei, who assured him that he could secure Nicaraguan visas for twenty of his clients in less than three months. After hearing Adjei’s promises, Bashiru gave over $15,000 to pay for the visas. According to the police, Adjei later admitted to receiving a total of GH¢225,000 from Bashiru but only managed to return GH¢30,000.
