West Ham United forward Mohammed Kudus is set to make his return to action after serving a five-game suspension.
The Ghanaian international was shown a red card on October 19 during a Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur, where he was penalized for slapping and pushing two opponents in a heated exchange during the Hammers’ 4-1 defeat.
Originally given a three-match suspension, the English FA extended the ban to five games and imposed a £60,000 fine.
Kudus’ absence was keenly felt by West Ham, who managed just one win in his absence — a narrow victory over Newcastle United. The team struggled otherwise, suffering losses against Manchester United, Everton, Arsenal, and Nottingham Forest.
The forward’s return is timely, as West Ham prepares for a crucial matchup against Leicester City. Manager Julen Lopetegui is under mounting pressure to turn around the team’s fortunes during a busy December schedule.
Before his suspension, Kudus had made eight league appearances, netting two goals. His reinstatement is expected to bolster West Ham’s attacking strength as they aim to improve their form.
