West Ham United manager Julen Lopetegui has welcomed the return of Mohammed Kudus to the squad, describing it as a timely boost ahead of their upcoming fixtures.
The 24-year-old forward is now eligible to play after completing a five-game suspension for violent conduct, which followed his red card during West Ham’s 4-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur. Initially banned for three matches, his suspension was extended by two additional games, along with a significant fine.
Ahead of their upcoming match against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Tuesday, Lopetegui expressed his pleasure at Kudus’ availability. While he refrained from confirming whether Kudus would start, he emphasized the positive effect of having the player back.
“We won’t talk about the lineup, but it’s great to have him available after being out for a while,” Lopetegui stated. “He’s been working well, he’s happy to be back, and that’s good news for us. With a busy fixture schedule ahead, it’s important to have as many options as possible.”
During Kudus’ absence, West Ham saw a mixed set of results, including two wins, two losses, and a draw. His return is expected to provide valuable depth as they approach a packed December schedule.
