The Greater Accra branch of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) has officially commenced its 25th-anniversary celebrations. The event, themed “The Emergence of NAGRAT: The Beginning of Empowering, Inspiring, and Liberating the Ghanaian Teacher,” marks a significant milestone in the association’s history.
This celebration highlights 25 years of NAGRAT’s continuous advocacy for the rights and welfare of teachers across Ghana. Speaking at the launch, the Greater Accra Regional Chairman, Henry Teitey Tetteh Afi, emphasized the transformative role NAGRAT has played in improving the lives of educators.
“Without NAGRAT, no significant change has happened for the Ghanaian teacher,” Afi stated, underscoring the association’s central role in the education sector. He proudly added that NAGRAT has always stood firm in advocating for justice and fairness for teachers, never shying away from pressing for necessary reforms.
Aaron Adarkwa, Secretary of the Ghana Education Service (GES) Council, chaired the event and encouraged NAGRAT to adopt research-based strategies to better inform their demands. He also urged teachers to be well-acquainted with their code of conduct and scheme of service.
Guest of honor Simon Sekyim, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ga North, called on teachers involved in the upcoming December 7 elections to maintain transparency and work towards ensuring a peaceful process.
