In the event that he is elected president, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has stated he will see to it that the National Cathedral project, which is currently stalled, is completed. He claims that because the building has already been constructed using state cash, it must be finished.
President Akufo-Addo promised God the National Cathedral before taking office, but the promise has since become mired in controversy. It was later discovered that state money totaling more than GHC339 million had been utilized to fund what was once believed to be President Akufo-Addo’s personal project, to be financed by private monies.
