With just under 24 hours remaining before Organized Labour’s planned nationwide strike, the Ghana Employers Association (GEA) has made a heartfelt appeal for the strike to be called off. The Association warns that such an action could have severe repercussions for businesses across the country.
Alex Frimpong, CEO of GEA, expressed concerns about the potential economic fallout from the strike in an exclusive interview. He emphasized the need for dialogue between the two parties to prevent a disruption that could severely impact employers’ operations.
Frimpong highlighted the ongoing challenges businesses are facing, mentioning that any nationwide strike could further exacerbate the situation. The GEA aims to engage with Organized Labour to discuss the implications of their planned strike.
Frimpong reiterated the urgency of the situation: “We appeal to Organized Labour to reconsider their decision and collaborate with us. A nationwide industrial action would incur significant costs for businesses. While I don’t have an exact figure, it could easily run into millions or billions. Dialogue is essential.”
