Voters register – Police give greenlight for NDC’s nationwide demo at EC offices

The Ghana Police Service has finalized the procedures for the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) upcoming nationwide demonstration at the Electoral Commission (EC) offices. Scheduled for September 17, 2024, the protest aims to urge the EC to conduct a thorough audit of the voter register ahead of the general elections on December 7.

Adom News correspondent Kodwo Mensah Aboroampa reported that both the NDC and the police agreed on the arrangements during a meeting at the Police Headquarters on Wednesday. Key NDC officials present at the meeting included the party’s General Secretary, Fifi Kwetey; National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi; and Director of Elections and IT, Dr. Omane Boamah, among others.

Speaking to the press, NDC General Secretary Fifi Kwetey explained that the meeting with the police was to confirm the approved route for the planned demonstration. He outlined that participants would gather at Kwame Nkrumah Circle and proceed through Farisco, TUC, the Ministries, and Parliament House, before concluding the march at the Electoral Commission office.

Mr. Kwetey also urged Ghanaians to join the protest in large numbers, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding the integrity of the voter register to ensure a free and fair election.
