Despite the opposition party’s misgivings, the National Peace Council is still optimistic that the NDC will sign the peace accord before the December elections. The NDC insists that certain requirements be fulfilled before it will even consider signing the peace agreement. Asiedu Nketia, the National Chairman of the party, has questioned the success of earlier peace agreements, claiming that the intended outcomes have not been achieved.
Nonetheless, Dr. Ernest Adu-Gyamfi, the National Peace Council Chairman, voiced hope that the NDC will eventually agree to sign the agreement while addressing reporters in Accra. He stated that since the NDC has not declared unequivocally that they will not sign and that they have distributed some grievances, they will meet and discuss these issues and potential solutions.
