NPP to enforce mandatory school enrollment for children at age 4 – Prince Hamid Armah

The New Patriotic Party NPP is set to enforce mandatory school enrollment for all children under the age of four. Dr. Prince Hamid Armah, the chair of the party’s education manifesto, made this announcement. The objective of this endeavour is to provide young students with a solid educational foundation.

The Ghanaian Constitution requires compulsory education, yet it does not penalise noncompliance, as Dr. Armah noted. He suggested employing information from the Birth and Death Registry and the National Identification Authority (NIA) to track and guarantee children’s enrolment as they get closer to school age in order to close this enrolment gap.

Dr. Armah also underlined the NPP’s dedication to enhancing kindergarten (KG) education nationwide, under the direction of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. In recognition of the vital role early childhood education has in influencing subsequent learning, the party intends to build state-of-the-art kindergarten blocks in communities that do not currently have them.

He said their objective is to construct new, inexpensively constructed KG blocks in underserved areas and renovate existing ones using contemporary machinery. “I believe that with about five hundred thousand Ghana cedis, we can build a quality KG. We are committed to improving KGs because they are the foundation of further learning,” he stated.
