A ride-hailing driver was detained by the police on Sunday, August 18, 2024, for reportedly shooting a male adult at Koans Estate near Kuntunse in Accra. The driver was later revealed to be an off-duty police officer.
The event happened at around 4 in the morning. on Sunday after what the police described as an altercation between the deceased, Stanley Ahadzi and General Constable Smith Gyeke on a fare dispute.
The Police said in a statement on Monday, August 19, that the deceased’s body is presently being kept in the Police Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy, and that the suspect is being held in Police custody as part of the incident investigation.
