Okyenhene to speak at Traditional Leadership and Sustainable Development Forum in UK

Okyenhene Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin, the reigning Okyenhene, is set to give a keynote speech at the first Traditional Leadership and Sustainable Development Forum at University of Bradford United Kingdom on 12th September. This colourful event will bring together university administrators, scholars, students and the entrepreneurial world to deliberate on the role of traditional leaders in fostering sustainable development in Africa.

The invitation for the Okyenhene was made by Richard Nyuur, Professor, Head of International Business, Marketing and Strategy, Bradford University School of Management. It is well reputed in Europe, ranked among the top 25 business schools and accredited with the “triple crown of accreditation” emphasising on the mission of producing responsible global managers.

In his upcoming address, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin is likely to discuss the linkage between leadership and development particularly with reference to corruption. Recalling his comments at the University of Ghana where he condemned actions that are corruptive to the public good, he underscored the ethical implications of such actions by further saying, ‘If you dip your hands in the public till and reduce from it money that would put up hospitals and schools, pay teachers adequately, build bridges…to deprive a child of malaria treatment, you are not successful-did you build anything that will make generations come after you

With leadership being one of the Okyenhene’s areas of expertise, he is expected to discuss global problems such as climate change and fake news and call for strong leadership to combat such problems.

This forum is another instance within the last one year, where Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin has been invited to speak on vital global issues by Western universities. On the 15th and 16th of October 2023, he will give speeches at two universities in Boston, USA calling for action on climate change now.

Also, the Okyenhene will grace the occasion as a guest of honor in the Bradford 2025 United Kingdom City of Culture celebration, where he will represent the black people in the United Kingdom. His participation is expected to boost the support of the event with over 1,000 new performances and events this is a major cultural achievement for the city.
