Olmo scores on Barcelona debut to secure the team Victory

Dani Olmo produced a match-winning show, scoring when he was registered in the first team, just hours before kick-off, as Hansi Flick’s team continued unbeaten form in La Liga season.

Olmo, who returned to the Catalan club from RB Leipzig in this transfer window for a deal of €60million (£51million), could not make the start as Barca bowed to the strict rules governing the Spanish league with regards to registration of players signed during the transfer period. In his case, until Ilkay Gundogan was released to go back to Manchester City, and a defender Clement Lenglet transferred to Atletico Madrid, the 26-year-old was free to feature for the team in the match against Rayo Vallecano.

It was the hosts that took an early lead after Unai Lopez scored for Rayo Vallecano. They remained in the lead till the 60th minute after which Pedri and Raphinha combined well to get the equalizer.

When Barcelona was close to putting the game to a close – Olmo – made the decisive contribution. He scored an excellent goal with the left foot after receiving a pass from Lamine Yamal which ensured Barcelona came back from the back to win.

By this victory, Barcelona is leading the current La Liga standings since the team is the only one which has not lost any of the three matches it has played.
