Barcelona has confirmed that Dani Olmo will be out of action for up to five weeks due to a hamstring injury. The 26-year-old picked up the issue after scoring in Sunday’s 4-1 league victory over Girona and was substituted in the 61st minute.
Olmo, who joined from RB Leipzig for €55 million, had missed the season’s first two matches due to registration problems but has since featured in all three games, scoring three goals—just one behind top scorer Robert Lewandowski.
This injury is a significant setback for Hansi Flick’s team as they prepare to kick off their Champions League campaign against Monaco on Thursday. Barcelona has made an impressive start to LaLiga with five consecutive wins. Olmo is expected to be sidelined for at least six matches up until the October international break.
