The Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II was yesterday formally received in Cape Coast as the Special Guest of Honour for the 2024 Oguaa Fetu Afahye festival. He was a man of many receptions and this made many people in the city follow his backing with keen interest and passion.
Upon the delegation’s arrival at the Emintsimadze Palace, the Asantehene together with the delegation was welcomed by the cheerful Oguaamanhen Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II. There was a lot of excitement in the form of singing and dancing as well as drumming before Otumfuo Osei Tutu II was given a bouquet of flowers. Receiving the handshake and a warm embrace from the other traditional authority saw the residents that had gathered show enthusiasm.
All in all, this year’s Fetu Afahye we expect to be more colorful compared to other years due to the Asantehene. It shows that he is a defender of tradition and that which keeps the Asante Kingdom together; thus, it gives insight to his cultural and spiritual authority.
Partnering between Asanteman and Oguaaman depicts the harmony that exist between ethnic groups in Ghana. This historical event comes after Otumfuo’s performance at the Homowo durbar of the Ga State in June this year as well as appealing as an intercessor across the length and breadth of the country’s rich culture.
