Otumfuo honoured with Honorary Doctorate from UCC

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has been honored with an honorary doctorate degree from the University of Cape Coast (UCC) in recognition of his remarkable leadership and efforts to promote peace, unity, and development in Ghana. The degree was conferred upon him during a special ceremony on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at the university’s campus.

The honor was bestowed by the UCC Chancellor and well-known businessman, Sir Sam Jonah during the Asantehene’s tour of Cape Coast, which was held during the celebration of the Oguaa Fetu Afahye festival. This was done with the help of black and white outfit and accessories representing traditional Ghanaian dancing and the efficiency and reputation of the University of Cape Coast.

This was a prestigious event which was graced by several dignitaries across the country to mark Otumfuo’s exceptional leadership and his successful effort in harmonizing between the traditional and the contemporary arsenals with high integrity.

Speaking during his acceptance speech, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II was very grateful to the University of Cape Coast for the privilege. He further assured the assembly of his resolve to deliver education, development and unity across the nation.

This was evident from pictures posted on the Manhyia Palace Face book account and Opemsuo Radio where Otumfuo now officially addressed as Otumfuo (Dr) Osei Tutu II was receiving the degree amidst thunderous applause.

This acknowledgement from U.C.C further establishes Otumfuo not just as a traditional monarch revered across the nation but a statesman whose main priorities are the development and well-being of every Ghanaian.
