A teacher revealed he had spent GH₵15,000 from an overpaid salary

During a session of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), a teacher’s candid admission elicited laughter as he revealed he had spent GH₵15,000 from an overpaid salary. Emmanuel Samson, a Principal Superintendent with the Ghana Education Service (GES) in the Gomoa West District, disclosed that he had received an excess payment of GH₵46,735.09, despite being entitled to only GH₵30,763.71 for his service from October 2017 to October 2019.

Mr. Samson, a teacher at Akropong Number One DA JHS, confessed to the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) that he had already spent GH₵15,000 of an overpaid salary before realizing the error. Despite his attempts to return the funds, he faced financial difficulties that hindered him from fully repaying the excess amount after making two initial payments.
