Parliament reconvenes today for Fifth Meeting of the  Fourth Session

Parliament is set to begin its fifth meeting of the fourth session today, October 15, 2024, at the Accra International Conference Centre. This temporary relocation is necessitated by ongoing renovations in the main chamber, the traditional venue for parliamentary sessions.

The venue change was announced by Speaker Alban Bagbin on September 30, 2024. This session is significant in the legislative calendar, as members are expected to address pressing national matters following a brief recess.

Key discussions will focus on several important bills and agreements vital for the nation’s development agenda. Recently, Parliament convened an emergency two-day session at the Dome, where they approved a $250 million loan from the World Bank to support Ghana’s Energy Sector Recovery Programme. This agreement was critical for revitalizing the energy sector and facilitating economic recovery after being initially rejected prior to the recess.

The decision to recall Parliament highlights the urgent need for essential financial instruments to bolster national projects.
