The court has instructed Salifu Amoako, Head Pastor of Alive Chapel International, and the mother of his son to file a complaint with the police regarding the circulation of images of their son in the media. This directive follows a tragic accident in East Legon that resulted in the death of two 12-year-olds.
The pastor, his son’s mother, and a third party are currently on trial for allegedly allowing their 16-year-old son, who is unlicensed, to drive a vehicle that was involved in the fatal incident.
In their second court appearance since their arrest, the parents raised concerns over social media images of their son, arguing that such posts violate his rights as a minor. Their legal counsel cited the Judicial Justice Act, which prohibits publishing images of minors, and requested a court order for the removal of these images.
While the prosecution acknowledged the need to protect the minor’s identity, they pointed out the challenges in enforcing a potential order, particularly in identifying who would be responsible for deleting the images across various platforms.
Consequently, the court advised Pastor Amoako and the mother to file a formal complaint with the Ghana Police Service, prompting further investigation and possible actions to address the unauthorized sharing of their son’s images.
